David Sylvian - Nine Horses interview barks.jp 2006
He was 30 years old here.
Rock Arena was a brilliant show! Banshees, Bauhaus and clips other 'music' shows wdnt air.
Great interview,I have all his albums,Solo work,Collaborations,Japan,Nine Horses,Rain tree Crow,I love The Taste of Magnolia,Everything and Nothing is Brilliant,To me David is A Poet,A modern day Shakespeare,Some of his songs remind me of Stratford upon Avon for some reason,”The Blood of a poet,The ink in the well,Fire at will in this open season”.
He might look very handsome, but lets face it, his interviews and language are absolute word salad, and rubbish.
what album is he talking about doing a new version of ghost and other tracks hope some one can help
Matt Damon?
Thank you , endlessly, for posting this historic and important piece of footage. This interviewer is incredible! The amount of terrible interviews I've seen such a lovely man endure and clearly suffer through is gutwrenching. This glorious lady asks questions that you can see and hear him truly enjoy answering. It's utterly magical to me personally, and I'm sure a lot of lovers of his fine music have gained immense joy from it. It's answered such a lot of questions that I've wanted to know the answers to on a very enigmatic , ellusive and solem soul. ❤❤❤
Pretentious twat!
The music of Japan and the language of Germany
Just at the end, I found it really moving to hear what he hopes people gain from his music. We all must have heard so many musicians talk about music - but Sylvian's description seems the truest, the most profound of them.
Guessing he must have been around mid 20,s here. Why is it it seems the majority of people of the same age these days sound like toddlers in comparison and can barely string a cohesive sentence together?
So true
Io c'ero. Fantastico!
Guys why are 80s British people so pretentious
Well, time to learn German
I know this is from like 12 years but yeah, this interview is from 1991 :) (And some other footages in the next parts are dated from the 90s till 95's)
1:13 ✨✨✨✨✨
Cool. 👍🏻
Dude must be dying of guilt in this day.
Great interview!!!! I connected very deeply with his music back in the early 80's....never knew anything about him.
This sounds like pretentious bullshit, and then he wrote Orpheus...
I saw Japan in 1981 at UEA, The Art of Parties Tour. They were spellbinding, no tapes, totally live and on it. Skilked musicians too. They didnt suffer from a lack of musical training, the absence allowed their raw skills to develop without barriers. By the time they split, their musicianship was still top notch ; they could really play. Proper pro's
The late Mick Karn stated in his book that Sylvian took money/ royalties that were due to the other members including his brother Steve Jansen and stole it to be blunt !!! I take an extremely dim view of that sort of behavior to put it mildly. That’s why they broke up !!!
David’s voice is magical, its texture. He read some sentences in one of Dumb Type’s piece. It was impressively substantial.
He is such a beautiful person and will always be!
He's not aged well. He's not attractive here either
@@steffanhoffmannplease don't be silly pal.
I listen to his music all the time. I could listen to him talking for hours as he is always on point. So sorry I missed seeing him perform in Tokyo. Y home.
❤like this little momo
Amazing deep interview.
This host, Suzanne Dowling seems so damn sincere. I like her.
I still have the video cassette I recorded this interview on, from way back when. So glad to see it on YT.
sylvian is my favorite!!! ❤️
Quiet life ❤, what an album 👌
They had split up before it was released
An intellectual and very talented artist that I have always admired. His music is beautiful.
Compare this level of thought and articulation compared to todays musical “artists”
what artists?
david ❤️
Mick Karn was the real genius in the band without question
every band member played a part. It's not sports. What's your point?
@@damianb2374 That Mick Karn was the real genius in the band. I can't see what you don't understand from that statement. As I'm sure that you'd acknowledge, it's all too common for the vocalist and the guitarist to get the credit while the rhythm section are not even spoken about. Japan are a classic case with Karn and Jansen not getting the acclaim they deserve.
@@micktomazou credit from where? I was there from the start and all 5 members were appreciated evenly. It's not sports.
Most relaxed interview i've ever seen him in i reckon 🤔
Subtitle !!!! Pleaseee!!!!
fantastic
Mark Hollis, David Bowie and David Sylvian...similarities abound in style and intellect
David really takes himself quite seriously
I preferred David around 1982 or 1983.
Too bad no one else does.
He's an artist
This is a great interview with David and great asmr as well😊
Nina, a Colossus
RICHHHAAAAAAAAAARDDD
Oh Suzanne....you are so lovely....alone with you late at night in a darkened room on a tiny TV ....I miss your gorgeous voice and warmest smile....ooh.
What
Glad he found happiness and a family. Sad he divorced
Ja, er ist magier
Rip Sakamoto
is there a version with subtitles anywhere?
.
He was very handsome around this age, with his natural hair color and lack of makeup. I wish there was a version of this interview without the overdub, I can't really tell what he's saying.
